Iowa Supreme Court Backs Gay Marriage

Yes, that's right, they overturned, in full, the ban on same-sex marriages in Iowa. So, alright California, what's your excuse *now*? Get thee off your fucking high horses, and overturn the bullshit, and throw it out already, and make it legal here. Enough, already. It was unconstitutional in Iowa, it's unconstitutional here. It's unconstitutional everywhere, dammit.

Apples and orange really. Iowa's overturning of the issue is pretty much what took place in Cal. a year or so ago. The response to "unconstitutional law" was for the Mormon Church via the Catholics to funnel huge amounts of money into Cal. and make the unconstitutional law an amendment to the State Constitution. I guess to them this magically makes the law constitutional. I also guess the just don't get that constitutional rights are primarily conferred by the Feds, and the States can suck a teet for all the good it does them.

Watch if the same thing doesn't happen in Iowa. An proposition to amend the state constitution will hit the election circuit.

None of this matters until it goes up the chain to the Feds and they rule it unconstitutional. It's a long end-game strategy, but the equal rights crowd has fought this battle before, and we all know how it goes.

Laws passed discriminating.
People challenge the state law.
Law is enforced.
Law is challenged in State Court.
State court usually upholds the law.

Either way, it makes it's way into a series of appeals and climbs the ladder.

Supreme court rules on the matter.
Game over.

That's obviously oversimplifying the matter. I think you catch my drift though.
